ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (4-2-0) men's soccer team defeated Oswego State (1-5-0) 2-1 in non-conference action from Tiger Stadium on Saturday afternoon. CJ Brunner (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore West) and Sean Coots (Binghamton, NY/Johnson City) each scored for the Tigers. John Kaddo (Troy, NY/Averill Park) had a pair of assists.

RIT held a 13-9 shot advantage, and took seven corner kicks to four for the Lakers.

Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) picked up his fourth win of the season for RIT, allowing one goal and making four saves. Pat Breen took the loss for the Lakers, allowing two goals and making four saves.

It did not take RIT long to get on the scoreboard, tallying a goal in the third minute. Brunner knocked home a cross from Kaddo off a RIT corner kick. Brunner redirected Kaddo's cross for his first goal of the season.

Oswego State got the equalizer in the 32nd minute on a goal by Andrew McBride. He fired home a shot off a loose ball inside the Tigers penalty area, scoring from about 10 yards out with a well-placed shot in the upper left corner.

Matt Brodel and Brunner each had prime scoring chances for RIT in the second half. Broedel's shot in the 60th minute sailed just wide of the post, while Brunner made a nice run down the right flank, firing a shot across the goal mouth that barely missed the far post.

Coots finally broke the deadlock with his first goal of the season in the 67th minute. Kaddo swung a ball into the Oswego penalty area towards the near post. Coots ran onto the cross and redirected a header just inside the near post to give RIT a 2-1 advantage.

Matthew Hettler had a good chance to equalize for Oswego State within the final 10 minutes of regulation, firing a low hard shot that Conway dove and turned aside keeping it a one goal advantage for the Tigers.

RIT returns to action on Tuesday, September 18 when the Tigers travel to Nazareth College to face the Golden Flyers at 4 pm.
