ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (3-2-0) men's soccer team dominated play, but was defeated by the No. 6 University of Rochester Yellowjackets (4-1-0) 1-0 in the inaugural Hillside Community Shield at Sahlen's Stadium in downtown Rochester on Tuesday evening.
Alex Swanger scored the game's lone goal in the 30th minute. He broke free from his defender out on the right flank and broke in alone on RIT keeper
Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and beat him with a low hard shot for a 1-0 lead.
RIT dominated shots 13-4, including three on net. The Tigers had six corner kicks to just three for the Yellowjackets. Scott Garfing picked up the win, allowing no goals and making three saves. Conway took the loss, making one save.

found (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)Matt Broedel# with a square ball at the top of the Rochester penalty area. Broedel fired a good low hard shot, but Yellowjackets keeper Scott Garfing made a nice save to keep the game scoreless.
Broedel had another good shot about 10 minutes into the first half. His one-timer from inside the box just sailed over the cross-bar.
RIT fired four shots in the first half. while Rochester had two.
The Tigers kept the momentum into the second half generating several very good scoring chances.
Danny Bloshkin (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) had two good shots early in the half, but his first shot was blocked, and his second was sent wide.
RIT fired 10 of their 14 shots in the second half. Brunner had a really good chance inside the last minute, on a nice build-up by the Tigers. His shot whistled wide of the cage and out of play.
RIT returns home to face SUNY Oswego on Saturday, September 15 at 2 p.m. at Tiger Stadium
