Women's Tennis Back on Track with Win Over Roberts Wesleyan

CHILI, NY -- The RIT women's tennis team (4-7) defeated Roberts Wesleyan (8-10) 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan.

The Tigers swept all three doubles matches, led by the team of Maite Vera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Mayor San Loranzo) and Marie Revekant (Pittsford, NY/East Rochester) who were victorious in first doubles, 8-5.  Lindsey Gibson (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy) teamed up with Sara Bjork (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs) to take down Meg Kelly and Kaitlynn Zaffuto in second doubles, 9-7, while Kristen Rice (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) and Kat Pillman (Greece, NY/Greece Athena) handled Kaylee Eamer and Maria Vitale in third doubles, 8-3.

Vera needed a tie-breaker in her second set at first singles against Dina Obukhova, but held on to win 6-1, 7-6 (5).  Gibson won her fourth singles match 6-4, 6-1, while Revekant won her fifth singles match 6-1, 6-1.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, April 21, when they host St. Lawrence for their final match of the regular season at 1 p.m.
