ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's lacrosse team (7-5, 5-2 Liberty League) defeated the University of Rochester (2-10, 1-6 Liberty League) 18-11 on Tuesday afternoon at RIT Field on the campus of RIT.

Rebecca Lampson (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy)# got the scoring started, just 2:22 into the game, off an assist by #
Carly Augustyn (Spencerport, NY/Churchville-Chili)#. The Tigers would double their lead two minutes later, this time with Augustyn finishing off a pass from Lampson.
The Yellowjackets would cut the Tigers' lead to 4-2 with 15:43 to play in the first half, but a five-goal run over the next 3:21 helped give RIT a commanding 10-3 lead at the half.
The teams played a back-and-forth second half, with the Tigers eventually coming out on top, 18-11.
Marlee Vlassis (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) had a career day, scoring six goals and adding two assists, while Augustyn chipped in with two goals and two assists. Lampson finished the day with nine points, on five goals and four assists, tying her career-high set at Bard earlier this season.

Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# finished with five goals and three assists on the day, and now has 57 goals for the season, the second most in one season in program history, trailing just Pinckney Templeton who had 58 in 2006. Her 83 points this season are also second most in one season in program history, trailing her own mark of 85 points, set last year.

Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# played a great game in net, making seven saves on the way to her seventh win of the season.
The Tigers outshot the Yellowjackets 39-27 on the day, while both teams went 11-for-13 on clears. RIT took a slight edge in ground balls, 22-21.
The Tigers are back in action on Thursday, when they travel to Geneseo to take on the Knights in a non-conference matchup at 4 p.m.
