Women's Tennis defeats Union 5-1

ROCHESTER  -- The RIT women's tennis team (4-7) defeated Union College (5-7) with a score of 5-1 in a Liberty League contest on Saturday at RIT.
 
In doubles action, the team of Maite Vera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Mayor San Loranzo) and Liz Uhrinec (Brewerton, NY/Central Square) defeated Brittany Gilbert and Dee Dee Gaudian 8-1 in first doubles.
 
The team of  Sara Bjork (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs) and Lindsey Gibson (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy) defeated Andria Coopersmith and Samantha Muratori 8-4 in second doubles to bring RIT to 2-0 against Union.
 
In singles action, Vera brought RIT to 3-0 in a 6-4, 6-0 win over Brittany Gilbert in first singles.
 
In fourth singles Kristen Rice (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) defeated Liz Lehmann in a 6-1, 6-4 match.
 
Bringing RIT's score to 5 Marie Revekant (Pittsford, NY/East Rochester) defeated Muratori 6-2, 6-2 in fifth singles.
 
The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, April 17th at 4 p.m., when they play Roberts Wesleyan in Chili, New York.
