OSWEGO, NY – The No. 1 RIT women's hockey team (19-1-1, 12-1-1 ECAC West) extended its winning streak to five games after hanging on to defeat ECAC West foe SUNY Oswego (9-10-2, 8-6-2 ECAC West) 2-1 at Campus Center Arena on Saturday afternoon. #
Danielle Read (Brantford, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)# scored the game-winner with 6:45 left in the second period for the Tigers, breaking a 1-1 tie.

Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons)# at the blueline, who then fired a pass back to Read. Read one-timed the shot from the point that hit an Oswego defenseman in front after a screen was set by #
Ali Hills (Honeoye Falls, NY)# went past goaltender Bridget Smith for Read's third goal of the season.

Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs)# stopped 15 shots for her eighth straight win to start the season. RIT took a penalty with 1:11 left in regulation, allowing Oswego to pull Smith to get the sixth attacker. The Tigers were able to hold off Oswego, then with 15 seconds, a major skirmish ensued with the officials doling 35 minutes in penalties, 27 going to Oswego.

Oswego tied the game 12 minutes into the period, as Melissa Seamont put a shot past Binnington from the slot.
Smith was strong in net for the Lakers, stopping 28 shots.
The Tigers were 1-for-6 on the power-play and held Oswego scoreless in five chances with the man-advantages.
RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 19-7-0, and have won nine of 10 meetings between the two schools since Oswego re-established its program in 2007.
The 19-1-1 start is the second best in school history after 21 games for the Tigers, only behind last season's 19-0-2 beginning.
