ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (9-7-1, 3-4-1 Liberty League) men's soccer team was defeated by Hobart College (10-7-0, 4-4-0 Liberty League) 1-0 in Liberty League action from a soggy TIger Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Shots were even at 13 apiece, as were corner kicks with each team taking four on the afternoon.
HObart's Oddmund Nesbakk scored the game's lone goal in the 14th minute. Alex Kittelberger fired a shot that RIT keeper
Ben Frazier (Westminster, MD/Westminster) stopped. The rebound came to Nesbakk who fired into the open goal.
The Tigers had several good scoring chances in the first half, the best coming late in the half when
Sean Coots (Binghamton, NY/Johnson City) dribbeld through a defender and shot. Hobart keeper Mike Lucas made the save.
The Staesmen had a golden chance to make it a 2-0 game late in the second half when Caetano Sanchez broke in alone on Frazier. Frazier came off his line to challenge Sanchez, forcing him to shoot wide of the goal, keeping the game 1-0 Hobart.
RIT put the pressure on Hobart's defense late in the contest. With eight minutes to play, the Tigers had a solid build up that led to a shot by
John Kaddo (Troy, NY/Averill Park) from 15 yards out that was saved by Mike Lucas, keeping the game 1-0.
With six minutes to play,
Matt Broedel (Hamilton, NY/Hamilton) had a shot that jsut missed the post, while a RIT free kick with 1:30 to play led to a corner kick that was cleared away by the Statesmen defense.
Frazier took the loss for RIT, allowing one goal and maing four saves. Lucas picked up the win for Hobart, making five saves.
