POTSDAM, NY - The RIT volleyball team (23-13, 6-6 Liberty League) dropped a three-set match to Skidmore (21-5, 11-0 Liberty League) by scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-9 on Saturday morning at Clarkson University. RIT rebounded to defeat St. Lawrence in the second match, 3-1. With the win, RIT Head
Jim Lodes set the all-time record for most wins at the university, passing former head coach Roger Worsley. Lodes is now 232-110 in eight seasons at RIT.
In the loss to Skidmore, RIT hit -.010. Senior middle hitter
Cat Sullivan (Lehman, PA/Lake-Lehman) hit .400 with 11 kills and three blocks.
Katie Cooper (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) slammed eight kills to go along with five digs, while
Suzanne Jokajtys (Boonville, NY/Adirondack) recorded six kills.
Senior setter
Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) added 27 assists, while
Bethany Davis (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) recorded 11 digs.
In the finale, the Tigers fell in a back-and-forth first set, 28-26. RIT would respond by taking the next three sets 25-21, 25-18, and 25-21. For the match, Sullivan hit .407 with 13 kills and added six blocks. Jokajtys slammed 12 kills and had eight digs while
Arielle Pariente (Twinsburg, OH/Twinsburg) chipped in seven kills and four blocks.
Worth dished out 41 more assists and Davis finished with 22 digs.
The Tigers wrap up the 2012 regular season next weekend at the New York State Regional Challenge hosted by NYU.
