ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (0-1) women's tennis team was defeated by Cortland State 6-3 in non-conference action from Gordon Field House on Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers picked up wins in first and third doubles, while taking a win in fourth singles.

In first doubles, the team of Liz McGrail (Rockford, IL/Guilford) and Sara Bjork (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs) defeated Loraine Jelinek and Jean Martinez, 8-1.

The third doubles team of Lindsey Smith and Kelsie Redburn (Byram, NJ/Pope John XXIII) defeated Mary Claire Kopcienski and Janette O'Keefe from Cortland State, 9-7.

In fourth singles, Laura Arcini (Johnston, RI/North Smithfield) defeated Janette O'Keefe, 6-0, 6-3.

RIT returns too action on October 10 when the Tigers begin competition in the New York State Championships hosted by Ithaca College.
