ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT women's hockey team (15-1-1, 9-1-1 ECAC West), ranked second in Division III, cruised to a 5-2 win over ECAC West foe Buffalo State College (6-8-2, 3-5-1 ECAC West) in front of 686 fans at Ritter Arena on Friday evening. Five different Tigers scored, as the team honored the United States Armed Forces by wearing special camouflage jerseys.

The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes and never looked back, while improving to 7-0 at home this season. #Tenecia Hiller (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Thunder)#, #Megan Kobar (Calgary, Alberta)#, and #Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons)# tallied a goal and an assist apiece, while #Kourtney Kunichika (Fullerton, CA/LA Selects) dished out two assists. (Drumbo, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres)Jamie Parhar (Calgary, Alberta)#, and #Kim Schlattman (Stratford, Ontario/Cambridge Fury)# also scored for the Tigers.

Goaltender #Laura Chamberlain (Norco, CA/LA Selects)# made 18 saves for her ninth win of the season.

Jeyna Minnick and Christine Williams tallied a goal and an assist apiece for the Bengals in the third period. Jordan Lee took the loss in net, stopping 18 shots in 32:37. Jess Garland stopped 25 of 26 shots over the final 27:23.

RIT was 2-for-7 with the man-advantage, while Buffalo State was 2-for-6.  RIT out-shot the Bengals, 48-20.

RIT jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period of play, out-shooting the Bengals, 13-4.

Parhar got RIT on the board just 2:31 in, as she went hard to the net and slammed home a rebound off a shot from #Megan Kobar (Calgary, Alberta) for her third goal of the season. Kobar took a feed from (Drumbo, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres)Danielle Read (Brantford, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)# in the neutral zone, walked in and took a fluttering shot that Lee stopped, but the rebound came right out to Parhar who tallied for the early lead.

Just 2:13 later, RIT added to the lead, as Hiller was in the right spot in front on the power-play, as a shot from #Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons)# caromed off a Buffalo State defenseman right to Hiller, who had a wide open net in front. Kunichika also assisted on the goal, Hiller's 11th of the season.

The Tigers continued their strong play in the second period, scoring twice more to go up 4-0 after 40 minutes of play.

Five minutes into the period, Moss fired a shot that ricocheted off a Bengals defenseman and past Lee for her fourth goal of the season and third in the last three games. #Ali Hills (Honeoye Falls, NY) and Erin Zach (Elmira, Ontario/Cambridge Fury)# also assisted on the goal.

Kobar deftly tipped in a great cross-ice pass by #Hannah Epstein (Amherst, NY/Nichols School)# on a 2-on-1 break at the 11:17 mark to put RIT up 4-0. #Lindsay Grigg (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville Hornets)# started the play by threading a pass through the neutral zone to Epstein, who was able to set up the odd-man rush.

Minnick got the Bengals on the board just after a 5-on-3 power-play ended, converting a rebound after two stops from Chamberlain in front at the 5:19 mark of the final period.

Schlattman buried a rebound after Hiller was robbed in front, also on a 5-on-3 to put RIT back up 5-1.

Williams closed out the scoring on a power-play at the 17:15 mark, tipping a shot from Minnick past Chamberlain from in close.

RIT is 18-1-1 all-time against Buffalo State and have won 10 straight against the Bengals.

This weekend, RIT is paying tribute to the United States Armed Forces.  The Tigers are wearing special “camouflage” jerseys for both games which will be auctioned off online.  All Proceeds for this event will go towards benefiting The Wounded Warriors Project.  For more information, go to http://www.rit.edu/studentaffairs/supportveterans/.
