Women's basketball holds bard to record low 27 points; defeats Raptors 68-27

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (7-8, 3-3 Liberty League) women's basketball team opened the game on a 13-2 run and never looked back, defeating Bard College (1-13, 0-5 Liberty League) 68-27 in Liberty League action from Clark Gym on Friday night. The 27 points allowed by RIT is a program record for points allowed in a game. A record that had stood since 1988.

RIT led 39-11 at the half, and outsocred the Raptors 29-16 in the second half. The TIgers shot 46.6 percent from the floor on 27-of-58 shooting. RIT made 11-of-30 from three point land and were 11-of-17 from the foul line.

RIT outrebounded Bard 40-30 and scored 25 points off of 28 Raptors turnovers. The Tigers scored 36 of their 68 points in the paint, led by #Leslie Havens (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) who scored 16 points. (Cohocton, NY/Wayland-Cohocton)Kayla Wheeler (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa)# added 10 points, while #Anne Wapshare (Blasdell, NY/Immaculata Academy)#, #Alex Kelley (Rochester, NY/Brighton) and Amy (Cohocton, NY/Wayland-Cohocton)Zeller# each tallied eight points. In all, 10 different TIgers scored points.

Junior #Jackie Hom (Newton, MA/Newton South)# dished out 10 assists  and had three steals/

Joanna Regan led Bard with 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

RIT returns to action on Saturday when they will face Vassar College in Liberty League action from Clark Gym. Tip-off is at 2 pm.
