PLATTSBURGH, NY - The No. 1 RIT women's hockey team (14-1-1, 8-1-1 ECAC West) had its 15-game unbeaten streak to start the 2011-12 season snapped by No. 8 SUNY Plattsburgh (10-3-2, 8-0-2 ECAC West) 3-1 at Stafford Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers fell behind 2-0 in the first period and could not recover.
Morgan MacInnis scored two goals and add an assist for the Cardinals, who move into a tie with RIT for first place in the ECAC West standings, but hold the tiebreaker over the Tigers. Shannon Stewart recorded a goal and an assist, including the eventual game-winner with 1:32 left in the opening period, while Teal Give had two assists.

Laura Chamberlain (Norco, CA/LA Selects)# played well, but suffered her first loss of the season, stopping 37 shots. Sydney Aveson stopped 34 of 35 shots to earn the win.

Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons)# scored RIT's lone goal for the second straight game.
RIT's power-play struggled, going 0-for-5. RIT had a full two minutes of a 5-on-3 power-play late in the second period, but could not score. RIT held Plattsburgh scoreless in two poer-play attempts.

Morgan Scoyne (Drumbo, Ontario/Stoney Creek Sabres)# and putting a shot past Aveson for her third goal of the year and second in the last two games.
The Tigers received a power-play with 5:20 left in regulation, poised to the game, but could not get the equalizer. MacInnis tallied her second goal of the game with 33 seconds left to put the contest away.
Last night, RIT and Plattsburgh skated to a 1-1 draw. Moss scored RIT's lone goal in that game as well. Plattsburgh now leads the all-time series between the two schools, 9-3-3.
Before today, RIT had trailed for a total of 7:01 in its first 15 games of the season.
The Tigers return to action on Friday and Saturday, as they host Buffalo State for a pair of games at Ritter Arena. RIT will pay tribute to the United States Armed Forces during these games by wearing special “camouflage” jerseys for both games which will be auctioned off online.
