WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The RIT wrestling team (5-6) gave No. 11 York (13-2) all they could handle before going down in defeat by a score of 23-21 in first round action at the Budd Whitehill National Dual Meet hosted by Lycoming College on Friday morning.  The Tigers then fell to Thiel 23-12 on Friday afternoon.  RIT ended the long day with a 35-18 win over Case Western.

#Rory Bruce (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda)# opened with a pin in just 2:15 over Chuck Glatz of York at 133 lbs. and was followed by #Tory Cain (Ontario, NY/Wayne)#, who secured a 4-2 win over Trent Bond at 165 lbs.  #Tyler Brent (Gasport, NY/Royalton-Hartland)# defeated Cody Ambrose via pin in 4:15 at 184 lbs., while #Nick Stewart (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin)# ended the match with a pin over Seth Snyder in 4:30 at the 285 lbs. spot.

#Shin Wakabayashi (Rochester, NY/Brighton)# got the Tigers off to a good start against Thiel, defeating Shay Velez-Lara in an exciting match, 9-8 at 125 lbs.. Thiel won the next three bouts before #Sean Sercu (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney)# defeated Ryan Carson, 5-2 at 157 lbs.  Thiel put the match away with four more wins before Stewart recorded his second pin of the day, defeating Kraig Smith in 1:59 for six points.

RIT finished the day with a 35-18 win over Case Western.  Bruce picked up another win, pinning his opponent in just 1:25.  #Nick Fuschino (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts)# was victorious over Kurtis Jensen, winning with a tech fall, 16-1.

On Saturday, RIT will play its final match of the weekend, against either John Carroll at 12 p.m.
