PITTSFORD, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but fell 3-2 to Nazareth College in non-league action this afternoon. The drops the Tigers to 2-4-0 on the season, while Nazareth improves to 2-2-2.
Rachael Bromson (Suffield, CT/Suffield) had a goal and an assist for the Tigers who were out shot by Nazareth 19-12. Alexis Knudtson tallied the other RIT goal.
Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) took the loss allowing three goals and making six saves.
Kelly Kuhn scored all three Nazareth goals, including the game winner in the 84th minute. Amanda Sudore added an assist, and Abbie Carey picked up the win allowing two goals and making seven saves.
Knudtson gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute on her first goal of the season off an assist from Bromson.
Bromson made it 2-0 Tigers in the 28th minute tallying her fourth goal of the season on a one-touch off a corner kick from
Jackie Jacobson (Westlake, CA/Westlake).
Kuhn pulled the Golden Flyers to within a goal in the 35th minute when she chipped a shot over Valenti who was caught off her line.
Just seven seconds into the second half, Kuhn struck for a second time off a cross from Sudore that tied the core at 2-2.
Then, with six minutes left to play, Kuhn struck for the third time with a shot from the right wing that found the back of the net and gave the Golden Flyers their first lead of the game.
RIT opens Liberty League play on Saturday, September 24 at #11 Union College. That game gets under way at 3 pm in Schenectady, New York.
