ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT volleyball team (4-8) had its two-match winning streak halted by Trine (6-6) in three games at the RIT Invitational on Saturday morning at Clark Gym. Trine was the only team at the tournament to move finish undefeated. In the final match, RIT fell to NYU in three games. Junior
Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Tigers.
Trine won the three games, 25-16, 25-17, 25-19. For RIT, Moore led the way with seven kills and three service aces. Freshman Elise Walsh dished out 18 assists.
Bethany Davis (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) recorded six digs. Making her season debut,
Kyra Wilson-Houck (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) slammed five kills.
RIT hit just .037 in the three games.
Tournament MVP Betsy Irwin led Trine with 14 kills, while hitting .632. Melanie Troyer added 11 kills and five digs. Darcy Crabtree recorded 10 digs, while Sarah Radekin dished out 33 assists and added five service aces.
Against NYU, RIT lost the first two games 25-21, and 25-22, before fighting gamely to a 29-27 loss in the final game. Wilson-Houck led the squad with nine kills, while Moore added six kills. Walsh dished out 24 assists, while
Lauren Kraft (Lockport, NY/Holy Angels Academy) and Davis added 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
On Tuesday, the Tigers play Rochester in a non-conference match at Clark Gym, starting at 7 p.m.
