UTICA, NY -- The No. 2 RIT men's lacrosse set the record for longest winning streak with a convincing 25-8 win at Utica College. The 14 straight wins breaks the old record of 13 straight set back in 1985. The Tigers improve to 14-0 on the season, the best start to a season in program history.

Junior attack Tyler Russell (Livonia, NY/Livonia) led the potent RIT attack with a career-high seven goals. Freshman attack Jack Krzyston (Bedford, NH/Bishop Guertin) tallied four goals, while senior Kelso Davis (Freeport, ME/Deerfield Academy) dished out five assists. In all, 11 different players scored goals for the Tigers. 

Junior Jordan Collins-Hartwig (Buffalo, NY/Clarence) scored three goals. Jordan MacIntosh (Oakville, ON/Holy Trinity) added two goals and an assist, while Chris Cherami (Olwick, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) and Tom Riley (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) each scored twice. Ryan Speciale (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) and Iric Bressler (Stafford, VA/North Stafford), who made his return after missing the last six games, each had a goal and an assist.

Senior Bob Tonnessen (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) improved to 14-0 on the season allowing seven goals and making seven saves in 45 minutes of action. His 14 wins this season places him in a three-way tie for second for wins in a season by a RIT goalie.

Leading by just two goals after the first quarter, the Tigers broke the game open in the second quarter scoring eight times and led 12-5 at the half. Russell scored three of his seven goals in the second quarter.

RIT scored seven times in the third quarter and led 19-7 heading into the fourth. The Tigers scored six times in the fourth cruising home to a their seventh win in Empire 8 competition.

The Tigers outshot Utica 48-35 and won the ground ball battle 35-21. RIT won 18-of-37 face-offs and were 20-of-25 on clearing attempts. RIT's man-up unit went 2-for-7 on the afternoon.

RIT closes out the 2011 regular season on Saturday, April 30 versus arch rival Nazareth College. Face-off at RIT Field is at 1:05 pm. Saturday's game can be seen on Time Warner Sports Network channel 26 or HD Channel 1026.
