LAKELAND, FL -- The seventh ranked RIT men's lacrosse team began the 2011 season in style, defeating Florida Southern 16-5 on Wednesday evening. Senior midfielder
Jordan MacIntosh (Oakville, ON/Holy Trinity) was one of four Tigers with three or more goals. MacIntosh netted four on the evening.
RIT outshot Florida Southern 36-23. Each team grabbed 27 ground balls, and RIT was 19-of-23 on clearing attempts.

and (Georgetown, Ontario/Trinity-Pawling)Jordan Collins-Hartwig# led the Tigers offense. Bressler had four points on three goals and an assist. Tingle and Collins-Hartwig each had three goals.

Tyler Russell (Livonia, NY/Livonia) added a goal.
RIT's defense was stout, allowing five goals and forcing Florida Southern into 25 turnovers. Senior
MJ Kiekebelt (Caledon, Ontario/St. Andrews College/Aurora) led the Tigers with four ground balls and a caused turnover.
Eric Horeth (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) added three ground balls.
Bob Tonnessen (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) got the start in net for the Tigers, allowing four goals and making six saves. Freshman
Anthony Deleo (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) played the final 9:08 allowing one goal and making two assists.
The Tigers led 6-2 after the first quarter, 10-3 at the half, and utscored Florida Southern 6-2 in the second half.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, March 5 at 12 pm when the Tigers host #10 Rensselaer at RIT's Turf Field.
