#6 men's lacrosse improves to 3-0 with win over Keuka

ROCHESTER, NY -- The sixth-ranked RIT (3-0) men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 on the season with an impressive 18-6 win over visitng Keuka College (1-1) on Saturday afternoon. Tyler Russell (Livonia, NY/Livonia) and Jordan Collins-Hartwig (Buffalo, NY/Clarence) led a balanced Tigers attack with four goals apiece.

Ten different Tigers scored goals on Saturday led by Russell and Collins-Hartwig's four each. MJ Kiekebelt (Caledon, Ontario/St. Andrews College/Aurora) and Kelso Davis (Freeport, ME/Deerfield Academy) each had two goals, while #A.J. Tingle#, Iric Bressler (Stafford, VA/North Stafford), Alex Crepinsek (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas), Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf), Tom Riley (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) and Ryan Speciale (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) each had a goal. Bressler and Davis each had a pair of assists.

RIT's defense was stout, holding their third straight opponent to under 10 goals. The Tigers held Keuka to six goals, including one in the first half and none in the second quarter. RIT forced the storm into 15 turnovers and won the ground ball battle 43-26.

Sophomore defenseman Evan Burley (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) led the TIgers with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Mac Keefus had six ground balls and one caused turnover.

Bob Tonnessen (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) got the start in net, allowing five goals and making seven saves picking up his third win of the season. Freshman Anthony Deleo (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) played the final 9:35 and made three saves while allowing just one goal.

RIT was 19-of-22 on clearing attempts, while the Storm was 19-of-26. The Tigers were 16-of-27 on face offs led by Doug Hemink (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) who was 16-of-23 for RIT.

Mason Brown scored three goals for the Storm who fall to 1-1 on the season.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, March 19 when they travel to Potsdam, New York to take on Clarkson University at 1 pm.
