PITTSFORD, NY – The men's swimming and diving team (9-2) defeated cross-town rival Nazareth (2-7) 186-98 Saturday afternoon.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Kyle Wilson (Buffalo, NY/Canisius),
Bryan Minicucci (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield),
Frank Zelinger (Schwenksville, PA/The Hill School), and
Ryan Marchant (Norwich, NY/Norwich High School) grabbed first place with a time of 1:53.55. Three Tigers, including
Kevin Hom (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert),
Austin Lopez (Parma, OH/Normandy), and
Steve Brown (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville Dewitt) took the top spots in the 800-meter freestyle. Hom finished the race in 9:04.26 for first place, Lopez in 9:36.63 for second place, and Brown with a time of 9:38.12 for third place.
Hom also placed first in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 55.95 while
Casey Burns (Kings Ferry, NY/Southern Cayuga) placed second in 56.74.
Scott Farrell (Buffalo, NY/North Tonawanda) placed first and
Ryan Marchant (Norwich, NY/Norwich High School) placed second in the 200-meter freestyle with times of 2:04.46 and 2:05.97, respectively.
Nate Marshall (Waverly, NY/Waverly) nabbed second place in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:05.05.
Zac Parker (Rochester, NY/Brighton) finished the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:13.76 for second place.
Frank Zelinger (Schwenksville, PA/The Hill School) and
Alex Hebert (Norwell, MA/Norwell High School) grabbed first and second place in the 200-meter butterfly with times of 2:20.53 and 2:23.07, respectively. Zelinger also placed first in the 200-meter backstroke in 2:28.21 followed by
Matthew Partacz (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca) in second place with a time of 2:34.72.
Joe Meiman (Milford, NH/Milford) finished the 200-meter breaststroke in 2:42.73 for first place.
Ryan Marchant (Norwich, NY/Norwich High School) grabbed the gold in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:01.34.
Evan Wendt (Norwich, NY/Norwich High School),
JJ Bero (Canandaigua, NY/Marcus Whitman), and
Tim Ruth (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) placed in the top three for the Tigers in the 1-meter diving event. Wendt placed first with a score of 307.65, Bero secured second with 228.90, and Ruth rounded out at third with a score if 177.40. Bero placed first in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 202.50.
The Tigers return to action from February 23-26 as they travel to Webster, N.Y. for the Empire 8 Championships.
