BOSTON, MA - The RIT volleyball team (10-13) had its three-match winning streak snapped at the UMass Boston Tournament on Friday evening, falling to the hosts, ranked No. 17 nationally, 25-14, 25-15, 25-11. UMass Boston is the highest ranked team that the Tigers have faced this season.
The Tigers struggled to get much going offensively, recording just 18 kills, while hitting .053 in the match.
Bethany Davis (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) recorded 12 digs, while
Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) and
Kyra Wilson-Houck (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) had kills each.
Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) and Elise Walsh combined to dish out 14 assists.
For UMass Boston, Shannon Thompson slammed 14 kills, while Corrine Porter hit .611 with 12 kills and 10 digs. Cassy Hanneman dished out 38 assists and recorded 10 digs. The Beacons hit an astounding .477 in the three sets.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, as they play the U.S. Coast Guard at 11 a.m. and Western Connecticut State at 1:30 p.m.
