Volleyball completes 2011 season with split at New York State Regional Challenge

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT volleyball team completed its 2011 season with a split at the 2011 New York State Regional Challenge, hosted by University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon.  RIT defeated NYU in five sets, then lost to the hosts in four sets.  The Tigers finish the 2011 season with a 17-22 record.

The Tigers defeated NYU in five hard-fought sets in the first contest of the game.  NYU won the first set, 25-14, while RIT rallied to win the next two, 25-19, 25-21.  NYU took set four 25-14, then RIT took the fifth and decisive set, 15-10,  In that final set, RIT slammed nine kills without an error.

Kyra Wilson-Houck (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) led the squad with 15 kills in the win over NYU.  Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) hit a robust .600 with 13 kills, while Cat Sullivan (Lehman, PA/Lake-Lehman) added eight kills and four blocks.  Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) dished out 39 assists and recorded two service aces, while Bethany Davis (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) and Lauren Kraft (Lockport, NY/Holy Angels Academy) added 13 and 11 digs, respectively.

The Tigers fell to Rochester, 20-25, 28-26, 17-25, 7-25 in the finale.  Wilson-Houck and Moore combined for 24 kills, while Worth tallied 33 assists and 11 digs.  Davis recorded 18 digs, while Kraft added 12, and #Jokajtys, 11.

Moore ends the season with a team-high 463 kills, while Sullivan hit .328.  Worth dished out 1,145 assists and added 62 service aces.  Davis led the way with 524 digs, while Sullivan tallied 98 blocks.
