UTICA, NY -- The RIT men's soccer team, unbeaten in seven straight games, had that streak snapped on Wednesday night with a 3-2 loss at Utica College. The loss drops the Tigers to 9-4-2 on the season.

RIT held an 18-14 shot advantage and took 11 corner kicks to three for the Pioneers. Darryl Anderson (San Diego, CA/Southwest) scored both RIT goals, while Todd Gaulocher (Old Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) and Kyle Grimaldi (Gloucester, MA/Gloucester) each had an assist. Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) took the loss allowing three goals and making six saves.

Utica took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute on a goal by Jonathan Peterson. He broke into the RIT penalty box and fired a low shot that beat Conway to the right.

The Pioneers made it 2-0 in the 29th minute on Jonathan Wood's sixth goal of the year. Kevin McAllister sent a bal into the Utica area that Wood headed in to give Utica a two-goal lead.

RIT pulled to within a goal in the 34th minute on Anderson's first goal of the game. Gaulocher sent a ball in that Anderson gathered and beat Anthony Caruso through his legs.

A little over two minutes later Anderson struck again off an assist from Grimaldi. Anderson scored as Caruso came out to play the ball out of harm's way.

After halftime, Steven Romero scored what would be the eventual game-winner in the 66th minute. Romero scored off assists from Wood and McAllister.

The Tigers kept the pressure up firing nine shots, including five on goal, in the second half. But, Caruso was up to the task turning all five shots aside.

The loss breaks a seven-game unbeaten streak by the Tigers, who was 6-0-1 in that stretch.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 22 when the Tigers take on No. 1 St. Lawrence at 2 pm in Canton, New York.
