SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- Senior forward
Dan Holowaty (Strongsville, OH/St. Ignatius) scored in the 14th minute and the defense took care of the rest, as the RIT men's soccer team remained unbeaten in conference play with a 1-0 win over Skidmore College in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Tigers to 5-3-2 overall and 2-0-1 in Liberty League action.
Holowaty scored when he chipped a ball over Skidmore keeper Nick Peterson for the game's lone score. The goal was the sixth of the season for Holowaty which leads the way for the Tigers.
Skidmore came out hard in the second half, but RIT keeper
Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) stopped all four shots he faced in the half and five total for the game to earn his fifth shutout of the season. The Thoroughbreds best opportunity came in the 68th minute on a dangerous cross that Tiger defender
Ryan Giust (Chesterland, OH/Hawken School) headed away into the midfield.
Peterson finished with four saves for the Thoroughbreds. Skidmore had a narrow 11-9 edge in shots.
The Tigers are 3-0-1 in their last four games and have not allowed a goal in that stretch. RIT returns to action on Friday, October 8 when the Tigers host Clarkson University in Liberty League action at 4 pm on RIT Field.
