The RIT volleyball team (2-2) finished third out of eight teams at the 2010 Hartwick-Holiday Inn Tournament over the weekend.  On Sunday, the Tigers opened the day with a three-game win over City College of New York, then lost a five-game heartbreaker to Clarkson.  Senior outside hitter Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) was named to the All-Tournament Team.

In the opener, RIT cruised, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-18.  Schaffer led the way with 16 kills and 11 digs, while Suzanne Jokajtys (Boonville, NY/Adirondack) and Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) chipped in with eight and seven kills, respectively.  Kristin Parish (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) had five kills and three blocks, while Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) added 14 digs.  Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) dished out 39 assists and added three blocks.

RIT won the first two games and needed just one point in the fifth game to secure the win, but were unable to land the finishing blow.  RIT won the first two games, 26-24, and 27-25, before Clarkson roared back to win the next two, 25-20, 25-15.  RIT was up 14-12 in the decisive fifth game, before Clarkson scored the final four points and win the match.

Henriksen compiled 24 digs, while Schaffer slammed 19 kills and added 11 digs.  Parish recorded 10 kills, five blocks, five digs, and three service aces.  Katie Cooper (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) had seven kills, while Worth distributed 45 assists and added five blocks.

RIT is back in action next weekend at the St. Lawrence Tournament.  The Tigers play SUNY Oswego and SUNY IT on Friday at 6 and 8 p.m.
