ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in 2010 after shutting out SUNY Brockport, 9-0 at the RIT Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon.
Senior
Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) earned her second straight 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles. Freshman
Maite Vera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Mayor San Loranzo) picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles to also improve to 2-0.
Brooke Brindle (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) and
Marie Revekant (Pittsford, NY/East Rochester) garnered wins at third and fourth singles, respectively.
Lindsey Gibson (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy) picked up a hard-fought three-set win at fifth singles, while
Kristen Rice (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) earned her first win at sixth singles.
Berg and Vera rolled to an 8-2 win at first doubles, while
Michele Caporali (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) and Brindle garnered an 8-4 win at second doubles. Revekant and Gibson also won at third doubles.
The Tigers return to action with a home match against Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday at 2 p.m.
