ONEONTA, NY -
The RIT volleyball team went split its first two matches of the season on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by Hartwick College.  RIT fell to Western Connecticut in three games in the opener, then swept SUNY Oswego in the nightcap.

Western Connecticut won the opener in three games, 25-11, 25-23, 26-24.Senior Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) led the way with 11 kills, 11 digs, and three blocks.  Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) dished out 24 assists.

In the second match of the day, the Tigers rebounded to beat SUNY Oswego, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23.  Sophomore Jessica Moore slammed 13 kills to go along with three blocks.  Schaffer added 12 kills, while Kristin Parish (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) tallied six kills, five digs, four blocks, and two service aces.  Worth finished with 44 assists.

The Tigers finish weekend play on Sunday with matches against City College of New York at 2 p.m., and Clarkson at 4 p.m.
