ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT volleyball team (10-4, 2-0 Empire 8) finished day one of Empire 8 play with a three-set win over Ithaca (7-7, 0-1 Empire 8) in crossover action at Clark Gym on Saturday afternoon.
RIT cruised in the first sets, 25-16. Sets two and three were a bit closer. In set two RIT was down 17-11 before going on a major run to win the set 25-21. The Tigers staved off a third-set run by the Bombers to win 25-23. Sophomore setter
Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) led RIT with 29 assists to go along with nine digs, six kills, four service aces and three solo blocks. Senior
Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) and
Kyra Wilson-Houck (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) each had nine kills apiece. Schaffer added four digs and an assisted block. Wilson-Houck also had four digs.
Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) recorded nine digs.
Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) had seven kills, two assists, one service ace, three digs and four blocks.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, as they host Stevens at 12:30 p.m. and Utica at 3 p.m.
