Women's soccer beats Oswego; remain undefeated

OSWEGO, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 2-0 at SUNY Oswego on Saturday. Freshman Alexa Martinez (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) and senior Sarah Frisicano (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) each scored second-half goals for the Tigers who are ranked 10th in the New York region.

After a scoreless first half, Alexa Martinez (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead, scoring her second goal of the season in the 85th minute off a corner kick.

Senior Sarah Frisicano (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead in the 89th minute off a free kick. She fired a free kick into the upper-90 for her first tally of the season.

Junior Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) picked up her fourth win of the season and her second shutout of the year, making four saves.

RIT outshot Oswego 11-8. Each team took four corner kicks. RIT took committed 12 fouls to just two for the Lakers.

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, September 14 when they host St. John Fisher at 4 pm in the Tigers Empire 8 opener.
