ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's lacrosse team improved to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the Empire 8 with a convincing 20-9 win over Elmira College on Wednesday afternoon. RIT's
Sean Gillies (Oakville, Ontario/Albany Academy) led the Tigers with eight points on six goals and two assists. In all, eleven different Tigers scored.
RIT led 9-2 after the first quarter, 13-3 at the half and cruised home in the second half for their seventh win of the season. The Tigers have won seven of their last eight games. RIT out-shot the Soaring Eagles 59-31 and won the ground ball battle 55-25. RIT won 26-of-33 face-offs and cleared the ball 18-of-22 times.

tallied three goals for the Tigers and (Camillus, NY/West Genesee)Craig Nairn
and (Camillus, NY/West Genesee)Doug Hemink
each had a pair of goals. Junior attack (Camillus, NY/West Genesee)Kelso Davis# had a goal and three assists.
Jerry Ragonese (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) had another dominating day at the face-off “X” winning 22-of-27 draws. He also scooped up seven ground balls. Kiekebelt had seven ground balls and Nairn grabbed six for the Tigers.
Robert Tonnessen (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) got the start and picked up his sixth win of the season making five saves. Junior
Kevin Rattigan (Chicago, IL/Western Reserve Academy) played all of the third quarter and into the fourth allowing one goal and making four saves.
Dan Wiatroski (Califon, NJ/West Morris Central) played the final 4:12 and made one save.
The Tigers hit the road for a key Empire 8 matchup on Saturday, April 10 when they face Ithaca at 1 pm in Ithaca, New York.
