ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's lacrosse team picked up their ninth win of the season with an 18-9 win over Alfred University (3-8, 0-5 E8) in Empire 8 action from RIT Field on Wednesday. Junior Kelso Davis (Freeport, ME/Deerfield Academy) had an outstanding day for the Tigers with seven points on a career-high five goals and two assists. The win improves RIT to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the Empire 8.

RIT took control right from the opening face-off, leading 8-2 after the first quarter of play. Davis scored two of his five goals in the opening quarter for RIT. Jordan Collins-Hartwig (Buffalo, NY/Clarence), Sean Gillies (Oakville, Ontario/Albany Academy), Alex Crepinsek (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas), David Burke (Fairport, NY/Fairport), Mike Barilla and Adam Vlassis (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) each had goals in the quarter for the Tigers.

Davis and senior Adam Lahmann scored RIT's goals in the second quarter as the Tigers took an 11-5 lead into the half. Davis had two of the Tigers three second-quarter goals.

RIT continued to dominate in the second half, out-scoring Alfred 7-4. Among the goal scorers for RIT in the second half was juniors Doug Hemink (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and Tanner King (Virginia Beach, VA/Corning East) and sophomore Tom Riley (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South).

The Tigers out-shot Alfred 41-28 and won the ground ball battle 38-26. RIT won 18-of-31 face-offs led by senior Jerry Ragonese (Berkeley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston) who won 16-of-24 draws and had eight ground balls. RIT was 10-of-12 on clearing attempts while stopping Alfred 7-of-15 times. The Tigers were 1-for-4 on the man up.

Robert Tonnessen (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) picked up the win for RIT making eight saves. Kevin Rattigan (Chicago, IL/Western Reserve Academy) played the fourth quarter and made four saves.

Tim Doyle took the loss for Alfred allowing 15 goals and making seven saves. Mike Russo paced the Saxons with three goals. Scott Johnston and Brendan Murphy each had two goals.

RIT will host Utica College next Wednesday, April 28 at 4 pm on RIT FIeld. The seniors will be honored prior to the game.
