ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's hockey team jumped nine spots from No. 18 to ninth in the current USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Division I poll, which was announced on Monday. It is RIT's highest national ranking in five years of Division I play.
The Tigers advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four after defeating nationally ranked Denver and New Hampshire in last week's NCAA East Regional at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y.
The Tigers (28-11-1) have won 12 consecutive games and will play No. 2 Wisconsin (27-10-4) on April 8 at Ford Field in Detroit in the first Frozen Four semifinal.
No. 1 Miami (Ohio) University plays No. 3 Boston College in the other national semifinal, with the winners meeting for the NCAA championship on April 10.
RIT finished the season ranked 20th in the USCHO.com Division I poll, which concluded its voting on March 22.
