Women's hockey picks up eighth straight win, defeating Buffalo State

BUFFALO, NY -- The fourth ranked RIT women's hockey team defeated Buffalo State 4-1 in ECAC West action on Saturday night. The win gives RIT head coach Scott McDonald 80 for his career breaking the old record of 79, held by Rob Scuteri. He is now 80-18-7 in four seasons with the Tigers.

RIT finishes the regular season 18-4-3 overall and are 13-3-2 in the ECAC West. The Tigers will be the third seed in the upcoming ECAC West Tournament, which gets underway next weekend.

Senior forward #Missy Hall (Chesterland, OH/Gilmour Academy) paced RIT with a pair of goals. Junior (Tinley Park, IL)Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)#, Division III's top scorer, had a goal and an assist. Kelly Prom and #Amanda Klassen (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Warner Warriors) each had a pair of assists. Freshman (Tinley Park, IL)Carly King# picked up her ninth win of the season allowing one goal and making 12 saves.

Hall gave RIT a 1-0 lead 1:46 into the contest with an even-strength goal on assists from Dagg and freshman #Kim Schlattman (Stratford, Ontario/Cambridge Fury)#.

After a Buffalo State goal tied it up early in the second period, Hall gave the Tigers the lead for good with her second of the evening and 12th of the season on assists from Klassen and Prom.

Dagg made it 3-0 with a short handed goal at 15:51 of the third on an assist from freshman #Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons)#. It was Dagg's 16th goal of the season and gives her 44 points on the season, placing her in a tie for first among all Division III players.

#Tenecia Hiller (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Thunder)# tallied her second goal of the season at 6:58 of the third to make it 4-1. Prom and Klassen had the assists on the play.

RIT will host an ECAC West Tournament game next weekend. Date, time and opponent for that playoff game has yet to be determined.
