ROCHESTER, NY –
The No. 1 RIT women's hockey team (12-0-0, 8-0-0 ECAC West) tied a program record by picking up its 12th consecutive win, defeating Neumann (4-4-0, 4-4-0 ECAC West), 6-1 at Ritter Arena on Saturday afternoon. Six different players scored for RIT.

The 12-0 start for the Tigers is now the best in school history. RIT started 11-0 in both 2002-03 and 2006-07.

Like last night, six different players scored for RIT. #Kourtney Kunichika (Fullerton, CA/LA Selects) led the way with a goal and two assists. She now leads the Tigers with 20 points this season. (Pittsburgh, PA/Mountour)Ariane Yokoyama (Van Nuys, CA/LA Selects)#, #Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge)#, #Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)#, and #Liz Gemmiti (Toronto, Ontario/Brampton Thunder) recorded a goal and an assist apiece. (Pittsburgh, PA/Mountour)Megan Kobar (Calgary, Alberta)# also scored for RIT.

The Tigers finished 3-for-7 with the power-play. Neumann was 1-for-5. Dru Austin scored Neumann's lone goal, a rebound off a shot from Stephanie Nakamura with 3:38 left in the third period.

RIT out-shot Neuman, 46-16. Sophomore goaltender #Carley King (Tinley Park, IL)# picked up her third win of the season, stopping 15 shots. Shannon Donnelly made 40 saves in defeat for the Knights.

The Knights came out strong with a couple of good chances in the opening minutes, but RIT held firm. RIT rebounded to score twice over the opening 20 minutes and take a 2-0 lead after one period.

Kobar got the Tigers on the board at the 12:01 mark of the opening period, shooting a fluttering puck through a screen and past Donnelly for her fourth goal of the season. Gemmiti and #Ali Hills (Honeoye Falls, NY)# assisted on the goal.

Kunichika gave RIT a 2-0 lead with a power-play goal with 3:32 left in the period, as she tucked home a rebound after a scramble in front of the Neumann goal. Stack took a blast that was stopped but the puck bounced off the goaltender. Kunichika was able to corral the puck and score her third goal of the season.

Dagg put home a rebound 1:45 into the second period, on the power-play to make it 3-0 RIT. #Kim Schlattman (Stratford, Ontario/Cambridge Fury) and Tenecia Hiller (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Thunder)# assisted on the goal, Dagg's sixth of the season.

RIT put the game away with three third period goals.

Stack finished off a nifty three-way passing play, firing a shot from the slot into a wide open net on the power-play for her team-best 10th goal of the season. Yokoyama fired a cross-ice diagonal pass to Kuncihika at the left side. With the defense and goalie committed to that side, Kunichika fired a pass right back into the slot for Stack, who had nothing but net for the goal, 1:10 into the final period.

Yokoyama slammed in a rebound off a shot by Kunichika in tight after #Erin Zach (Elmira, Ontario/Cambridge Fury)# made a nice play in the corner to set the play up, 7:10 into the final period. The goal was Yokoyama's second in consecutive games.

Just 11 seconds later, Gemmiti fired a laser of a shot from the high slot just inside the left post past Donnelly for her fifth goal of the year. #Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas) and Dagg set up Gemmiti.

RIT is now 9-0-1 all-time against Neumann. The Tigers are out-scoring their opponents, 71-10 in 12 games this season.

Last night, freshman forward #Hannah Epstein (Amherst, NY/Nichols School)# scored twice and added an assist in a 7-1 win over the Knights.

The Tigers play their final game of the 2010 calendar year on Friday at Hamilton. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
