ROCHESTER, NY –
The No. 1 RIT women's hockey team (11-0-0) picked up its 11th consecutive win to start the season, scoring four times in the second period, rolling to a 7-1 win over Neumann (4-3-0, 4-3-0 ECAC West) at Ritter Arena on Friday evening.

Freshman forward #Hannah Epstein (Amherst, NY/Nichols School) scored two goals. She was one of six goal scorers for the Tigers. (Pittsburgh, PA/Mountour)Ariane Yokoyama (Van Nuys, CA/LA Selects)#, #Megan Kobar (Calgary, Alberta)#, #Kylie Mazzetta (Lakewood, CO/Colorado Selects)#, #Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas)#, and #Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge)# also scored for the Tigers, who are now out-scoring opponents 65-9 in 11 games this season.

The Tigers out-shot Neumann, 44-9. Freshman goaltender #Laura Chamberlain (Norco, CA/LA Selects)# picked up her ninth win of the season, stopping six shots over two periods of play. #Carley King (Tinley Park, IL)# played the third period and stopped two shots.

Kayla Dubowski scored Neumann's lone goal on an assist from Jasper Thomson. Kendra Chisholm made 37 saves in defeat for the Knights.

Tonight's game was the first time that RIT has played as the No. 1 team in the nation.

The Tigers came right out and dominated play from the start, out-shooting Neumann 14-2 over the opening 20 minutes. RIT wasted no time getting on the board, just 1:25 into the contest, as McCrea redirected a shot from #Liz Gemmiti (Toronto, Ontario/Brampton Thunder) past Chisholm for her eighth goal of the season. (Pittsburgh, PA/Mountour)Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)# also assisted on the goal.

Stack gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead at the 8:57 mark, jamming a rebound at the side of the net past Chisholm for her ninth goal of the year and 70th of her collegiate career. #Tenecia Hiller (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Thunder) won the draw back to (Pittsburgh, PA/Mountour)Danielle Read (Brantford, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)#, who put a shot on goal that went through a screen that was stopped by Chisholm. The rebound caromed right to Stack who was wide open at the side of the net.

Epstein scored her first of two goals off a rebound in front after Hiller had a shot stopped by Chisholm, 8:45 into the second period.

Neumann cut the lead to 3-1, just after a Tiger power-play, as Thomson threaded a saucer pass up the middle that sent Dubowski in on a breakaway. Dubowski beat Chamberlain with the backhand for the goal, her second of the year.

RIT Head Coach #Scott McDonald# immediately called timeout after the goal, and the Tigers responded, scoring 22 seconds apart, and three times 1:49 apart later in the period to put the game away.

Kobar made a nice move in front after strong work by the Tigers kept the puck in the zone. She waited for Chisholm to commit before roofing a shot under the crossbar in front at the 16:08 mark.

The following shift, Yokoyama fired a tough angle shot from the right side that snuck inside the post to make it 5-1 Tigers at 16:30.

Mazzetta concluded the late onslaught, tipping a shot by #Melissa Bromley (Aurora, Ontario/Aurora Panthers)# in the slot past Chisholm to make it 6-1 at 17:59.

Epstein tallied her second goal of the game, 3:58 into the final period, taking advantage of a Neumann miscue in front of the net. Epstein was handed the puck with a wide open net and she tallied her sixth goal of the year.

RIT is now 8-0-1 all-time against Neumann.

It is RIT's third 11-0-0 start in program history, tying a school record for best start. The Tigers can set a team record for most wins to start a season without a loss with a win tomorrow. RIT opened both the 2002-03 and 2006-07 seasons with 11 straight wins to start the season. The Tigers can also tie a school record for longest winning streak (12) on Saturday as well.

The Tigers and Knights wrap up their regular season series on Saturday at 3 p.m.
