ROCHESTER, NY – The No. 3 women's hockey team (3-0-0, 1-0-0 ECAC West) opened up ECAC West play by drubbing SUNY Cortland (0-2-0, 0-1-0 ECAC West) 7-0 at Ritter Arena on Friday. Thirteen different players recorded at least a point for the Tigers.

Laura Chamberlain (Norco, CA/LA Selects)# recorded her second straight shutout, needing to stop just 10 shots. She made her best two saves in the third period, on Gwen Paul and Maggie Giamo to preserve the shuout.
Sarah Sitcov was strong in net for the Red Dragons, stopping 52 shots, several of which from point-blank range.
RIT was 1-for-5 with the power-play and held Cortland scoreless in four attempts with the man-advantage.
The Tigers scored three times in a dominating first period, as they out-shot the Red Dragons, 24-4.
Sitcov made a big glove on Stack early on from point blank range.
McCrea got the Tigers on the board at the 8:35 mark, on the power-play, as she took a feed from Schlattman at the side boards, walked out in front and roofed a wrist shot over the glove of Sitcov for her second goal of the year. Gemmiti tallied her first collegiate assist on the play.
Zach made it 2-0 at the 17:02 mark, taking a nice feed in close from Kunichika, and burying a shot just under the crossbar. Gemmiti assisted on the play. Kunichika drew three defenders behind the net and was able to backhand a pass to Zach.

Danielle Read (Brantford, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks) past Sitcov for her second goal of the year. Read and (Pittsburgh, PA/Mountour)Kristina Moss (Webster, NY/Buffalo Bisons)# played catch at the point, before Read fired a shot at the goal that glanced off Hiller's shin pad and in through a screen.
The line of Hiller, Stack, and Epstein struck twice in the second period to give RIT a 5-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.
Just 4:40 into the second period, Hiller swatted in a rebound of a shot by Epstein. The trio cycled the puck down low, when Stack had a shot blocked by the defense. The rebound came to Epstein in close, whose shot was stopped by Sitcov. Hiller was right on the door step to bury the rebound, her third goal of the season.
The line struck again nearly nine minutes later, almost in the same fashion, as this time Stack had the shot stopped by Sitcov. This time, Epstein was there to slam the rebound in for her first goal. RIT held the puck in the Cortland zone for well over 30 seconds before scoring the goal.
RIT's defense limited Cortland to just one shot in the period.
Kunichika nearly had a goal, all alone on a breakaway, as he shot appeared to carry Sitcov into the net over the goal line, but the referees said the view was inconclusive.

The Tigers are off to a tremendous start this season, outscoring their opposition, 18-1 in three contests.
RIT has now won 16 straight over the Red Dragons and leads the all-time series between the two schools, 16-8. RIT has outscored the Red Dragons, 113-14 during the streak.
The same two teams conclude the weekend series on Saturday at 7:05 p.m, once again at Ritter Arena.
