ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's tennis team improved to 8-2 overall and 6-0 in the Empire 8 conference with a 9-0 win over Alfred University in Empire 8 action on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) improved to 13-1 overall and 10-0 in dual match action in singles competition with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Griffin Currie.

Freshman Maite Vera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Mayor San Loranzo) picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles over Autumn McLain. Sara Bjork (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs)  was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at third singles, and Brooke Brindle (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at fourth singles. Marie Revekant (Pittsford, NY/East Rochester) defeated Shannon Tovey 6-2, 6-1 at fifth singles, and senior Lindsey Gibson (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy) was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at sixth singles.

Berg and Vera rolled to an 8-0 win at first doubles, while Bjork and Revekant garnered an 8-2 win at second doubles. Brindle and Gibson were 8-1 winner at third doubles. With the win, Berg and Vera improve to 11-2 overall and 9-1 in dual matches.

The Tigers return to action with a home match versus Nazareth College on Tuesday, October 12 at 4 p.m.
