Women's tennis stays hot, sneaks past SUNY Cortland

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT women's tennis team won its fifth straight match, improving to 7-2 overall (5-0 Empire 8) with a 5-4 win over SUNY Cortland (7-4) indoors at the Gordon Field Houseon Tuesday afternoon.  RIT won all three doubles contests and never looked back.

Senior Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) improved to 12-1 overall and 9-0 in dual match action in singles competition with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Loraine Jelinek at first singles.  Freshman Maite Vera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Mayor San Loranzo) picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles over Stephanie DiCapua.  Vera is now 9-2 this season.

Berg and Vera rolled to an 8-2 win at first doubles, improving to 10-2 in 2010.  Bjork and Revekant garnered an 8-6 win at second doubles. Brindle and Gibson were 8-0 winner at third doubles.  Bjork and Revekant are now 7-2 this season.

The Tigers are right back in action on Wednesday, as they travel to play Alfred in an Empire 8 match at 4 p.m.
