The RIT volleyball team (22-15) wrapped up the 2010 regular season by dropping a pair of matches at the New York State Regional Challenge hosted by Nazareth College on Sunday.  RIT fell to St. Lawrence in four sets and No. 15 NYU in three sets.  Senior Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) was named to the All-Tournament Team.

In the opening match of the day, RIT fell to St. Lawrence, 12-25, 20-25, 25-20, 21-25.  Freshman Kyra Wilson-Houck (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) led RIT with 12 kills to go along with four blocks.  Schaffer tallied a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs.  Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) dished out 34 assists and added eight digs.  Audery DiPoala led the way with 12 digs, while Kristin Parish (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) had five blocks.

The Tigers fell in three sets to NYU, 18-25, 26-28, 16-25.  Schaffer slammed 12 kills and added 13 digs to go along with three blocks.  Parish and Wilson-Houck added seven, and six kills, respectively.  Worth dished out 24 assists.  Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) had 12 digs.

Schaffer now has 538 kills this season, eighth most in one season at RIT.  Her 1,902 career digs are fourth all-time at RIT, while her 1,823 kills are also fourth-most.

The Tigers travel to and play top-seed Ithaca in the Empire 8 semifinal on Friday at 11:30 a.m.  If the Tigers win, they will play the winner of Nazareth vs. Elmira in the championship match at 7 p.m.  The winner of the Empire 8 Tournament recieves an automatic berth into the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
