Volleyball finishes 1-1 on Saturday at New York State Regional Challenge

PITTSFORD, NY -
The RIT volleyball team (22-13) finished 1-1 at the New York State Regional Challenge, hosted by Nazareth on Saturday.  The Tigers opened with a three-set win over SUNY Brockport, then fell to Rochester in four sets.

RIT cruised to a 25-22, 25-18, 25-10 win over Brockport in the opener.  Sophomore Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) continued her strong play, leading the way with 14 kills and nine digs.  Senior Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) recorded a double-double, with 15 digs, and 13 kills, while hitting .370.  Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) dished out 34 assists and added five kills, four blocks, and two service aces.  Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) chipped in with 10 digs, while Cat Sullivan (Lehman, PA/Lake-Lehman) added six kills.

It is RIT's second victory over Brockport this season.

RIT dropped an extremely close four set match to Rochester, losing the first two sets, 32-30, 25-21, before winning set three, 25-16.  Rochester then won a closely contested fourth set, 28-26 to win the match.

Schaffer picked up her second double-double of the afternoon, slamming 18 kills to go along with 12 digs.  Moore hit .326 with 17 kills.  Worth dished out 41 assists to go with 12 digs and six kills.  Kristin Parish (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) tallied seven kills and five blocks.  Katie Sessions (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) and Henriksen added 16 and 15 digs, respectively.

RIT is now 1-2 against Rochester this season.

The Tigers close out the regular season on Sunday, playing St. Lawrence at 11 a.m. and No. 15 NYU at 3 p.m.
