NORTHFIELD, VT - The RIT women's hockey team completed a weekend sweep at the East/West Hockey Classic hosted by Norwich, after cruising to an 8-0 shutout win over New England College on Saturday afternoon. Seven different Tigers scored a goal, while 12 players recorded at least a point. Freshman goaltender #
Laura Chamberlain (Norco, CA/LA Selects)# was named East/West Classic MVP.

Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)#, #
Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge) and
Traci Galbraith (Oakville, Ontario/Burlington Jr. Barracudas)# were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Dagg led the offensive onslaught on Saturday with two goals and an assist. She was also plus-4, with one of her two goals coming shorthanded. Galbraith and sophomore forward #
Tenecia Hiller (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Thunder)# tallied a goal and an assist apiece.
Freshmen forwards #
Kolbee McCrea (Wawa, Ontario/Burlington Barracudas) and
Kourtney Kunichika (Fullerton, CA/LA Selects)# both tallied their first collegiate goals. McCrea also added an assist.

Danielle Read (Brantford, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)# also scored for RIT. Stack and #
Kim Schlattman (Stratford, Ontario/Cambridge Fury)# dished out a pair of assists apiece. #
Ariane Yokoyama (Van Nuys, CA/LA Selects)#, #
Hannah Epstein (Amherst, NY/Nichols School)#, and #
Kylie Mazzetta (Lakewood, CO/Colorado Selects)# each recorded an assist. Epstein's was the first of her collegiate career.
Chamberlain, who was brilliant in the win over Norwich last night, was rarely tested against New England, needing to make just nine saves to record her first collegiate shutout.
RIT led 2-0 after one period of play, but broke the game open with four goals in the second period. McCrea and Schlattman scored 38 seconds apart to make it 4-0, then Dagg netted a shorthanded marker 10:03 into the period to give the Tigers a 5-0 edge. Galbraith made it 6-0 just over five minutes later.
The Tigers out-shot New England, 41-9. The Pilgrims had just two first period shots and only one in the final frame. RIT was 1-for-4 with the man-advantage, while holding New England scoreless in six power-play attempts.
Teraysa White made 21 saves in two periods for the Pilgrims. Kristen Conners made 12 third period saves.
RIT is now 10-2-0 all-time against the Pilgrims.
Last night, RIT opened the season by defeating host Norwich, 3-1. Stack tallied twice, while Chamberlain made 30 saves.
RIT is back in action this weekend, as they playing their opening two home and conference contests against SUNY Cortland on Friday and Saturday, with both contests getting underway at 7:05 p.m.
