Volleyball wins pair of matches at Oneonta State Invitational on Saturday; Schaffer and Moore named to All-Tournament Team

ONEONTA, NY -
The RIT volleyball team (15-6) won a pair of matches on Saturday at the Oneonta State Invitational.  RIT opened with a four-set win over Keene State, then dispatched SUNY IT in three sets.  Senior Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) and sophomore Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) were named to the All-Tournament Team.

In the opener, RIT won sets one and two, 25-17, 25-21, before Keene State battled to win the third set, 25-16.  RIT took set four 25-14 to take the match. 

Sophomore Katie Cooper (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) led the way by hitting .357 with a season-best 13 kills and three blocks.  Moore and Kristin Parish (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) both slammed eight kills.  Parish hit .400.  Cat Sullivan (Lehman, PA/Lake-Lehman) hit .375 with seven kills and added a team-high five blocks. 

Sophomore setter Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) dished out 48 assists to go along with eight digs, five kills, three blocks, and three service aces.  Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) recorded 17 digs, while Schaffer added 10 digs.

The Tigers cruised to a 25-13, 25-15, 25-17 win over SUNY IT in the second match.  They hit .381 in the match.  Schaffer slammed 13 kills and hit .379 to go along with three service aces.  Cooper hit .467 with eight kills and six digs.  Worth had 29 assists.  Henriksen added 11 digs, while Kyra Wilson-Houck (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) chipped in with nine digs.

RIT finished 3-1 over the weekend.  On Friday, RIT fell to Oneonta State in five sets and defeated Hartwick in three sets.

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, as they travel down I-390 to face the SUNY Geneseo Knights in a non-conference match that gets underway at 7 p.m.
