ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's tennis team improved to 6-2 overall and 5-0 in the Empire 8 with a 9-0 win over Elmira College at the RIT Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) improved to 11-1 overall and 8-0 in dual match action in singles competition with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Alexandra Putney.

Freshman Maite Vera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Mayor San Loranzo) picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at second singles over Rebecca Kingman. Sara Bjork (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs) was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at second singles, and Brooke Brindle (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at fourth singles. Marie Revekant (Pittsford, NY/East Rochester) defeated Melanie Walker 6-2, 6-0 at fifth singles, and senior Linday Gibson was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at sixth singles.

Berg and Vera rolled to an 8-0 win at first doubles, while Bjork and Revekant garnered an 8-4 win at second doubles. Brindle and Gibson were 8-5 winner at third doubles.

The Tigers return to action with a home match against SUNY Cortland on Tuesday, October 5 at 4 p.m.
