Volleyball cruises to four-set win over SUNY Brockport on senior night

ROCHESTER, NY -
The RIT volleyball team picked up its 20th victory (20-7) of the 2010 season on Wednesday evening, defeating SUNY Brockport (8-18), 25-17, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17 before 500 oramge clad fans at Clark Gymnasium.

Senior Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) was honored before the game, as RIT's lone member of the Class of 2011.  She led all players with 19 kills to go along with 10 digs.  Schaffer now has 399 kills on the year, which leads the Empire 8.

Sophomore Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) dished out 43 assists, while classmates Katie Cooper (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) and Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) slammed nine kills apiece.  Moore added 10 digs, while Cooper had nine, and Worth, eight.  Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel) led RIT with 18 digs.  Kristin Parish (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) tallied four service aces.

RIT held one of its Tiger Den promotions, with hundreds of student-athletes from RIT's 23 other varsity sports came out and supported the volleyball squad.

RIT is right back in action on Thursday evening, as they travel the short distance to play Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher in a non-conference contest that gets underway at 7 p.m.
