Men's soccer shuts out Buffalo State

BUFFALO, NY -- The RIT men's soccer team posted its second shut out in as many games, defeating Buffalo State 2-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday. Seniors Allen Nicholson (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg Area) and Dom Colaprete (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) each scored for the Tigers who improve to 7-4-3 on the season.

RIT outshot Buffalo State 24-7, including 10 on net. The Tigers took six corner kicks to none for the Bengals. Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park), the Empire 8 Goaltender of the Week last week, posted his second straight shutout and sixth of the season making two saves for the Tigers.

Colaprete gave RIT a 1-0 lead on his third goal of the season. He scored on a one-timer off a cross from Jake Yates (Waynesburg, PA/Waynesburg) in the 27th minute.

Nicholson scored an insurance goal in the 74th minute off a rebound on a shot off the cross-bar from Dan Holowaty (Strongsville, OH/St. Ignatius)

The Tigers, 2-0-2 in their last four games, return to Empire 8 action on Saturday, October 16 when they host Alfred University. Game time at RIT Field is 12 pm.
