ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT women's hockey team (12-4-3, 7-3-2 ECAC West) scored four third period goals en route to defeating ECAC West foe Utica (9-10-2, 5-7-2 ECAC West) 4-0 at Ritter Arena on Saturday afternoon.

#Belina Hooper (Meaford, Ontario/Saugeen Maitland Lightning)# scored twice to lead the way for RIT. She tallied the game-winning goal 1:41 into the final period, slamming a feed from #Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks)# in close between the pads of Utica goaltender Jill Doherty to put the Tigers on the board.

Hooper's second goal gave RIT a 3-0 lead with 4:50 left. Dagg and #Tenecia Hiller (Brampton, Ontario/Brampton Thunder)# jammed at the puck during a goal mouth scramble in front of the Utica net. A rebound caromed to Hooper at the left side of the goal, and she redirected the puck in for her third goal of the season.

#Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge) and Traci Galbraith (Oakville, Ontario/Burlington Jr. Barracudas)# also scored for RIT. Dagg and Hiller each had two assists.

Stack scored her national-best 22nd goal of the season with 12:47 left on the power-play, ripping a wicked slap-shot past Doherty to give RIT a 2-0 edge. #Kim Schlattman (Stratford, Ontario/Cambridge Fury) and Kylie Mazzetta (Lakewood, CO/Colorado Selects)# assisted on the goal. The goal was Stack's 10th power-play tally, also tops in Division III.

Galbraith put the game away with an empty-net tally with 1:56 left.

RIT out-shot Utica, 48-15. Doherty was solid in net for the Pioneers, stopping 44 shots. Tiger goaltender #Carley King (Tinley Park, IL)# stopped all 15 shots she faced for her fifth win of the season. The shutout was also the first of King's collegiate career.

RIT was 1-for-5 with the man-advantage, and stopped all five of Utica's power-play attempts.

Neither team scored in a quick-paced first period of play. The Tigers out-shot Utica, 14-6 over the opening 20 minutes of play. Doherty came up big on a few RIT chances, while King stopped Darcy Hier on a partial breakaway.

The Tigers held Utica without a shot until the final minute of the second period, out-shooting the Pioneers overall, 15-2. Utica's MacKenzie Roy had a great chance midway through the frame, flipping a shot through traffic from the right point that glanced off the right post.

Doherty kept RIT off the board, stopping all 29 shots she faced through two periods of play.

RIT is now 9-2-0 all-time against Utica. RIT has now won five straight against the Pioneers.

Yesterday, Stack recorded her fourth hat-trick of the season in a 5-3 win, scoring RIT's final three goals.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, as they travel to play ECAC West foe Chatham. That contest begins at 7 p.m.
