UTICA, NY -- The RIT women's basketball team were defeated by Utica College 78-68 in Empire 8 action on Friday night. The Tigers led by 13 points at the half, but were outscored by the Pioneers 54-31 in the second half dropping their third straight game. The loss drops RIT to 8-9 overall and 2-6 in the Empire 8.

It was a tale of two halves for RIT. The TIgers shot 55.2 percent from the floor in the first half scoring 37 points. They held Utica to 27.6 percent from the floor in the fist half and 24 points. #Danielle Furman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport)# led RIT with 11 first-half points, while #Brianna O'Dell (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenedehowa)# added seven points and had five rebounds.

The second half saw RIT get outscored by 23 points, shooting just 36 percent from the floor. The Tigers were 9-of-25 from the floor including 3-for-8 from behind the arc. The Pioneers shot lights out in the second half, shooting 60 percent from the floor in the second half.

O'Dell paced RIT with 17 points on the night. She was 6-of-16 from the floor, while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Furman finished with 15 points and #Shannon Bean (Manchester, ME/Maranacook Community)# chipped in 11 points.

The Tigers return home Sunday, January 31 when they host Empire 8 rival Ithaca College. Tip-off at Clark gymnasium as 12 pm.
