ITHACA, NY -- The RIT women's basketball team was defeated by Ithaca College 61-48 in Empire 8 action on Tuesday evening. The loss drops the Tigers to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in the Empire 8. #

Sharon Dennis (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)# grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds.
The Tigers fell behind 9-2 early in the first half, but recovered to cut the lead to 9-8 on a lay-up by #
Charley Scott-McGrail (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame)# with 11:19 remaining in the opening half.

Jackie Hom (Newton, MA/Newton South)# nailed a three-pointer with 9:12 remaining in the first half to give RIT its first lead of the game.
With 2:03 to play in the first half,
Brianna O'Dell (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenedehowa) extended the Tigers lead to five points, their largest of the half, on a lay-up.
The Bombers outscored RIT 7-0 over the final 2:03 of the first half, leading 20-18 at the break. The Tigers bench outscored Ithaca's bench, 12-2 in the first half led by O'Dell's seven first-half points.

Anne Wapshare (Blasdell, NY/Immaculata Academy)# drained a three-pointer just out of half time to give RIT a one-point lead. After an Ithaca bucket gave the Bombers the lead back, #
Danielle Furman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport)# gave the lead back to the Tigers with her lay-up.
The Bombers took the lead back at the 17:53 mark of the second half and never gave it up, leading by as many as 13 points.
RIT shot 31.6 percent from the floor on 18-of-57 shooting. The Tigers turned the ball over 27 times leading to 18 Bombers points. RIT out-rebounded Ithaca 46-37 led by Dennis' 17 rebounds.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, January 22 when they host Empire 8 foe Hartwick College. Friday's game will be part of RIT President Dr. Bill Destler's third annual Orange Hair Challenge. If RIT students fill Clark Gymnasium Dr. Destler will dye his hair orange at halftime of the men's game.
