PITTSFORD, NY - The RIT women's basketball team (7-5) picked up its second straight win, hanging on to defeat SUNY Geneseo, 64-61 to claim fifth place at the 2010 Wendy's College Classic at Nazareth College on Saturday afternoon.
RIT led by as many as seven points two different times in the second half. The Knights cut the RIT lead to 62-61 on a 3-pointer by Alyssa Polosky with 12 seconds left, but senior guard #
Danielle Furman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport)# nailed two free throws with 10 seconds left to give RIT a three point lead. Geneseo attempted a 3-pointer in the final seconds, but were unable to convert.

Brianna O'Dell (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenedehowa)# led three Tigers in double figures with 12 points. Furman and #
Leslie Havens (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton)# added 11 points apiece. That trio combined to shoot 10-for-11 from the free throw line as well. #
Sharon Dennis (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)# grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with three steals and two blocked shots. #
Jackie Hom (Newton, MA/Newton South)# chipped in with seven points.
Polosky led all scorers with 17 points. Katelyn Charbonneau added 12 points for the Knights, while Bri Dunton dished out eight assists.
The Knights shot 44 percent from the field, while RIT shot 39 percent. Geneseo turned the ball over 20 times to just 13 by RIT. The Knights won the battle of the rebounds, 43-30.

It was RIT's second win over the Knights this season. On Nov. 30, RIT posted a 62-54 win over SUNY Geneseo. Vakiener led the Tigers with a career high 17 points in the win. The Tigers are now 4-12 all-time against the Knights.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday evening, as they travel to face Empire 8 foe Ithaca at 6 p.m.
