BROCKPORT, NY - The RIT women's tennis team (4-2, 3-1 Empire 8) cruised to its second straight shutout win, 9-0 over SUNY Brockport on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers have now won three straight matches.
Junior
Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) won at first singles, 6-2, 6-2, and paired with
Alexis Stanley (Vestal, NY/Vestal) to earn an 8-1 win at first doubles. Stanley picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win at second singles.
Junior
Michele Caporali (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) secured a 6-3, 7-6 win at third singles, while
Lindsey Gibson (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy) garnered a 6-1, 6-2 win at fourth singles.
Julie Burkett (McDonald, PA/West Allegheny) and
Marie Revekant (Pittsford, NY/East Rochester) recorded wins at fifth and sixth singles. Burkett earned a 4-6, 6-3, 11-9 win, while Revekant won 6-4, 6-1.
The second doubles team of Caporali and Gibson enjoyed an 8-5 win, while Burkett and Revekant were victorious, 8-3 at third doubles.
RIT returns to action on Friday, at the ITA Tournament hosted by William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y.
