ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT volleyball team (7-6) finished seventh out of 12 teams at the 2009 RIT Invitational. RIT went 1-1 on Saturday, losing the opening match to Clarkson, while finishing with a four-game win over St. John Fisher. RIT lost to Clarkson, 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-23), but defeated St. John Fisher, 15-25, 25-15, 25-16, 28-26. Senior middle hitter
Victoria Petko (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) was named to the All-Tournament Team.
It is the third straight All-Tournament Team honor for Petko. She earned honors at the Hartwick/Holiday Inn Tournament and Bomber Invitational.
In the win over St. John Fisher, Petko slammed 20 kills to go along with 13 digs.
Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) chipped in with 11 kills and four blocks. Freshman setter,
Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) had 34 assists to go along with 12 digs, six kills and four blocks.
Audrey DiPoala (Victor, NY/Victor) recorded 20 digs.
Petko led RIT offensively with nine kills in the loss to Clarkson. She also had three service aces, four digs and an assisted block. Moore added five kills and
Ashlie Baker (Northridge, UT/Northridge) had four kills for the Tigers.
Melanie Springer (Frederick, MD/Governor Thomas Johnson) had six digs and one assist.
RIT went 1-1 in Friday's matches, defeating SUNY Potsdam in four games, before losing to SUNY Geneseo in three games. RIT Head Coach Roger Worsley won his 300th career match against Potsdam.
The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, as they host Rochester in a non-conference match at Clark Gym, starting at 7 p.m.
